We are excited to offer the option for our patients to be seen by a midwife. Some women prefer midwifery services for the extra time and attention they can provide.
Certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) provide a full range of primary healthcare services to women including routine gynecological checkups, family planning services, preconception care, prenatal and postpartum care, and, of course, delivering babies.
The CNMs at Biltmore OB-Gyn are registered nurses who have furthered their education with a Master’s of Science in Nurse Midwifery and are certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). To be certified, a CNM must be formally educated in midwifery through an accredited program affiliated with an institution of higher learning, demonstrate clinical competence, and pass a rigorous national certifying exam. Our midwives work collegially with the OB/Gyn physicians for any concerns of issue that might require surgical intervention or a more detailed medical opinion.
